We as a club are delighted to announce that after several months of negotiations with Llanelli Town Council, we have achieved a pathway with the Lease of Stebonheath Park, home of the Reds. This pathway will not only support Llanelli Town AFC but the Bigyn Ward, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, West Wales but also develop a KEY PARTNERSHIP with Llanelli Town Council.
The proposal set out by our club and contained in our club pamphlet, is ambitious but gives us all something to aim for. We are excited and incredibly thankful to the Town Council and its Stebonheath Development Committee for giving us this opportunity. We really cannot wait to get this partnership underway, which will begin immediately. In fact, our partnership has always been there in the background and work behind the scenes has already been started by our club.
The facility at Stebonheath Park is something that we all should be proud of and the playing surface, majestically maintained by Eddie Donne (Head Groundsman), and his team is one of the best in Welsh domestic football. However, due to the playing surface being kept at a high standard, it is difficult to continually play on the surface week in week out, with the amount of games required not only by our club but local football and rugby clubs.
The priority for Llanelli Town AFC is now to go out and secure funding in order to create a hub for the community in this deprived area. We will push forward with plans to investigate and install a new 3/4G playing surface, upgrade the lights to more efficient LED system and install a solar panel system in order to have renewable energy powering the whole facility, whilst feeding the excess back into the national grid.
This project will really put everyone’s interests at heart and will be available for use 7 days a week for everyone. We will be looking at offering FREE time slots for ALL primary and secondary schools, not just in the vicinity but across Carmarthenshire. With the help of our community hub, there will also be the opportunity for boys, girls, men and women from all backgrounds and disabilities, to link in with club in order to develop key life skills and attributes via sport. This really is something that we can all achieve.
We also wish to continue working with all the partners who use Stebonheath Park, in order to achieve the ambitions we all have for the facility.
To conclude, it is now time to carry on with what has been started and work tirelessly to leave a legacy behind, which every individual in Llanelli can be proud of. It is without doubt a symbolic moment for the club and this has come about from the vision of our club directors, who I thank and a strong team of committee members, officials, coaches, players, parents, sponsors, partners and of course our supporters, all of which are volunteers, who have been and will be instrumental in the coming days, weeks, months and years to come.
Together, we will succeed!!!!!!
