Ladies 23/24 Season Recap

7th April 2024

Our ladies team concluded their first ever season in the Genero Adran South on the 24th March. A tough division which featured a number of strong sides saw the ladies finish 5th overall. The ladies also took on Cardiff City Women in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup which was a huge occasion for the team.

Following the conclusion of the campaign, we spoke to coach Greg Williams:

“Our first season in the second tier of Welsh football has ended. So what does the league position suggest?

We have achieved our main objective for season. Finishing 5th has ensured we will be there next season. We have a solid platform to build and kick on.

Overall, we have adapted reasonably well. However, adjusting to a level where chances are few and far between is extremely difficult. There have been moments in the season where we have struggled, along with moments where we have really clicked, and looked the part. The players have done their best, though.

As a management team, we are extremely pleased with the season overall, but there is, of course, room for improvement, that's a must..always !

The squad is ambitious and will continue I'm sure to improve. We are, of course looking to strengthen the squad. However, it must be the right player. Bringing in players just for numbers sake, can quickly turn into a revolving door, which can lead to disaster, that is something I'm very reluctant to do.

We want to bring in the right player that adds quality, hunger, and drive, and importantly carries the same core values as the current squad.

We have an amazing group of players here, willing to work hard in training and approach every game with the intention to be at their best. Of course, nobody enters the game wanting to play badly. The players care about what they are doing, each other and the club.

I would like to close by thanking all the players, the coaches, the club and the supporters who come both home and away.

Let's keep pushing to improve and never settle!”

Speaking to club commercial manager Jordan Fox, he concluded with;

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the ladies team this season (Supporters, committee, sponsors and directors).

Without the funding and support they wouldn’t be  here without them.

The ladies have done a superb job being promoted to this league for the first time, they managed to finish above relegation; they know what to expect for next season and this is great foundations to build from.

The summer is a great time to recruit players who want to follow the FAW pathway and play for the town club the highest level possible.

We will also be aiming to build on the ladies fan base and create a great match day atmosphere!”

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SPONSORS FOR THE 23/24 SEASON!
